Hello 👋 My name’s Steve, I’m a South African motion designer with an extensive history working within advertising agencies and studios, now based in Amsterdam.
I’m a digital native with a love for art, animation, graphic design, sound design and creative programming. I spent a lot of my youth making small games and visual experiments with code, while studying multimedia design and creative communications I discovered the power of After Effects and 3D animation software and saw how it blended so much of what I really enjoy into one, that’s when I knew I wanted to be a motion designer.
I’ve had the privilege of being able to work alongside some great teams of creatives in advertising agencies around Cape Town and Amsterdam, and have worked on loads of really interesting and challenging projects for some great brands, some of these challenges drove me into the technical aspects of video production where I’ve found a passion for automation and tool development within the animation field. I love solving problems and yearn for creative challenges.

Making the magic happen, whether I'm working alongside a designer to bring their work to life or animating my own designs, my favorite part of the process is animation. I thoroughly enjoy finding animated solutions that captivate and carry the viewer seamlessly through the world we've created in front of them. I will use animation principles and the latest digital animation software to craft movement that demands attention.

Graphic Design
I cut my teeth in the print design industry before becoming fully digital, it's there where I developed a love for typography and layout which I carry into my design for animation. I love good design and good illustration that connects and consistently ties the messaging and purpose of the animated work together. I aim to be adaptable and enjoy working with other designers to make interesting and fresh work.

Sound Design
With a background in music production and a love for turning knobs and making noises, I can take animated content to the next level by incorporating sound effects and foley that will take viewers into your world. Good sound and music brings that extra dimension of emotional impact and has the power to move viewers like nothing else. I believe strong consideration of this cornerstone of the audio visual experience is key to making truly meaningful video content.
